Drawer Boxes

Rigid drawer-style paper boxes for premium product presentation and gifting.

Buyer guide

Engineer the sleeve, tray and insert together

A drawer box depends on controlled movement between the outer sleeve and inner tray. Board thickness, wrap build-up, tray clearance, pull access, insert height and packed-product weight should be developed as one system so the drawer opens smoothly and remains aligned throughout handling.

Wrapped rigid drawer boxes

Dense board and a turned-edge paper wrap provide stiffness and a substantial presentation. Sleeve squareness, wrap seams, tray depth and clearance need close control to avoid friction or uneven reveals.

Folding-paperboard slide packs

Die-cut sleeves and trays can arrive flat and support efficient higher-volume packing. Locking details, grain direction, folded wall strength and thumb-notch access should be reviewed around the actual product.

Presentation trays and inserts

Paperboard, molded-fibre or other fitted inserts organise products and accessories while controlling the reveal. Retention, finger access, product clearance and total insert height all affect drawer movement.

Drawer box specification checklist

  • Required internal dimensions, packed weight and product orientation
  • Rigid or folding construction, board thickness and wrap paper
  • Sleeve-to-tray clearance, insert height, ribbon pull or thumb notch
  • Print, finish, quantity, packing method and destination market

Sample the sliding movement

A representative packed product and physical sample help confirm tray movement, reveal, pull access, insert retention and finished tolerances before mass production.

Drawer box buyer FAQ

Should I use a rigid or folding drawer box?

A wrapped rigid drawer box provides greater stiffness and a premium presentation, while a folding-paperboard tray and sleeve can reduce material, storage and packing volume. Product weight, dimensions, protection, presentation, assembly and delivery route should be compared before choosing the construction.

How much clearance does a sliding tray need?

The required clearance depends on board thickness, paper wrap, insert load, tray depth and manufacturing tolerances. The drawer should move smoothly without rattling or binding, so fit is best confirmed with the actual packed product and a physical structural sample.

Which pull feature works best for a drawer box?

A ribbon or woven pull creates a tactile premium opening, while a semicircle thumb notch offers a clean paper-based solution and simpler packing. Pull position, length, attachment and strength should be tested against the loaded drawer and intended opening direction.

What should I approve before drawer-box production?

Approve internal and external dimensions, sleeve-to-tray clearance, product and insert fit, pull access, board and wrap materials, artwork position, finishing and packing method. A physical sample is recommended for confirming movement, tolerances and the complete opening experience.
