Buyer guide

Plan a custom rigid paper box around product fit

Rigid packaging combines a dense board shell, a wrapped surface and, where required, a fitted insert. The structure should be chosen around product access, protection, presentation, packing method and the way the box will be handled from assembly through delivery.

Two-piece and lift-off lids

A versatile setup-box format with separate lid and base. Lid depth, fit and reveal can be adjusted to balance opening feel, protection and shelf presentation.

Shoulder and neck boxes

An inner collar creates a deliberate reveal between lid and base. Collar height, colour contrast and fit require accurate board and wrapping tolerances.

Hinged presentation boxes

A book-style or hinged construction keeps the lid attached and supports a controlled unboxing sequence for kits, electronics, gifts and presentation sets.

Rigid box specification checklist

  • Product dimensions, orientation, clearances and packed weight
  • Preferred structure, board thickness, wrap and interior appearance
  • Insert material, retention points, accessories and finger access
  • Artwork, finishing, quantity, packing method and destination

Rigid paper box buyer FAQ

Which rigid box structure should I choose?

Two-piece and lift-off lid boxes provide a familiar premium format, shoulder or neck boxes create a controlled reveal, and hinged presentation boxes keep the lid and base together. The best structure depends on product access, packed weight, insert design, presentation and packing efficiency.

What information is needed to plan the insert?

Share the product or accurate product dimensions, orientation, clearance requirements, packed weight and any accessories. Insert material, retention, finger notches and presentation should be reviewed together with the outer box dimensions.

Can the paper wrap, printing and finishing be customised?

Yes. Wrapped paper colour and texture, printed graphics, foil, embossing, debossing and selected surface finishes can be assessed against the artwork, handling requirements and desired appearance.

Can I approve a rigid box sample before production?

Yes. A suitable proofing or physical sample route can be planned after dimensions, structure, insert, materials and artwork are confirmed. Sampling is especially useful for checking fit, lid movement, reveal and finishing details.
